Priorities of Millennial and Gen Z Parents

When parents speak about their hopes and dreams for their children, they fall into four different categories:

Physical Development-that the child learns to care for his/her own wellness and to maintain a body for what is likely to be a 90- year-plus life span.

  • Academic- that the child learns what it means to become a lifelong learner and is able to adapt to new skills, as needed.

  • Social-Emotional- that the child comes to understand his own emotional needs, and is capable of making empathic connections with others and their needs.

  • Behavioral- he/she demonstrates citizenship, both in the family, and in the community

This is not a static document, but it is worth a monthly review to ensure the necessary progress is continuing in your child’s growth.

Any sudden decline is worth further examination.

Most parents discover that in order to achieve the monthly short term priorities for their child, they require to create a long term Parent Master Plan, that is holistic in nature.

Within such a plan, parents are often just whistling in the wind; leaving their child’s future to Fate.
